Exciting News from Skyline Denver!

We had our “official launch” on Easter Sunday March 31st! I say “official launch” because this marks the moment where we became a fully public church, with our address and meeting time listed openly on the web, signs and fliers around the neighborhood, and a listing on apple/google maps for people to find. Easter was a huge success! We had about 80 adults and 12 kids. Of the 80 or so adults, I’d say about 15 were people who were not believers, with many more that might perhaps be Christian but weren’t a part of a church. To be able to share that day with them and preach the explicit gospel was such a privilege. Our church did a faithful job of inviting the people they’ve been meeting from across the city including coworkers, neighbors, book club friends, students, etc.

There have been a lot of people from around the neighborhood who have visited the church since Easter. A number of local families seeing the signs have come in to check things out and talk. One thing that has meant a lot to people since we launched has been the fact that we do some songs in Spanish during worship (probably a song or two every other week). Many have mentioned to me how much this stuck out to them. We also recently got a list of things from the school we meet in that our church can do to assist the school itself as well as the neighborhood. God continues to give us opportunities to serve as a church.

Our team has grown as well. A new resident will start in August to focus on kids ministry and college ministry. We have all our residents fundraise a part-time salary and then take another part-time job in the city to make what they need to live in Denver. I have been nothing short of stunned at the residents God has brought our way to serve our church and our city. They are trustworthy with so much critical work we do and have allowed us to do things I didn’t think we’d get to in years. We also now have some office space right across the street from the Auraria Campus, which gives our team game-changing accessibility to the students we serve. By God’s favor we got the office for a great rate! Looking forward to what God does with the relationships here at the office.

As has been the case since we started, there are a number of people close to faith. Please take a minute to pray that God would save them, and continue to lead us in how to serve our neighborhood, campus, and city.
