Announcing: The New Song Project!
Over the last several years, leaders in the Crossway Network of Churches have sought to collaborate together in creating songs and worship training for our local churches. The effort has yielded some great songs and some momentum for creativity and leadership in the area of worship arts.

Now the vision is growing some deeper roots with what we’ve decided to call “The New Song Project.” This plan grew first in the hearts and minds of our leaders who’ve already been collaborating on some “official” Crossway songs together over the last several years. See Saint’s and Sinners here on Spotify. So, don’t view this as a vision for something brand new but as a continuation of what God has already enabled.

The New Song Project is an attempt to add some formal structure for expanding what has been pretty organic up to this point. The hope is to broaden our horizons and draw on a wider circle of gifts and talent from across the Network and cultivate some collaboration that might not happen otherwise. We hope to learn of and empower the creative and technical gifts that others in the Crossway family might be ready to invest. If you have any connections to or interest in writing, recording, and producing worship songs in the context for your local church (Crossway Network Churches), here’s what to do:
Read thoroughly through the New Song Project page on the Crossway Network website. This will give you most of the answers to your “Who? What? and Why?” questions.
Consider what this could lead to from your perspective. Do you know of anyone in the Network who might be interested? How might you personally be able to partner and invest in the project? We hope this leads to:
- Finding people who have incomplete or un-introduced songs that need to be finished off so they can be sung in your churches.
- The writing, recording, and production of more new songs.
- More opportunity for worship leaders in the Crossway Network to rub shoulders with one another.
- Vision casting to younger musicians and future worship leaders.
- Using music and using the new Song page itself to recruit and raise up younger musicians and worship leaders across our Network.
Prayerfully answer the invitation. Do you have the desire or know someone who does, to offer help to others in some of these areas? Do you have the time and energy (a realistic capacity) to help others with their projects on occasion? Do you have a publicly released song where you were the writer or did the production, mixing, mastering, or tracking/engineering?

If your answer is “yes” to the above, please contact Nick Cistola to explore the possibilities. Long term, the vision is to have many different people with many different specialties, skills, and styles listed to provide an increasingly comprehensive resource for worship leaders and worship songwriters for the church.
Thank you for taking the time to process through this as you journey on in your busy lives and ministries. Let’s pray together that God would show us how we can better serve our churches together as we all lead them regularly before his throne in worship and song!
