Celebrating Redemption Church of Greeley

Ten years ago, I felt the burden to be a part of a healthy church plant in Greeley, CO, and this burden was shared by Jason Shelton. Out of that mutual burden came a friendship and a vision for what is now recognized as Redemption Church of Greeley. This spring, we are celebrated five years of existence as a local church. This marks five years of God’s blessing, leading, sustaining, and keeping us unified and centered on His Kingdom.

God has blessed us with faithful members of this body who serve in all the various needs of the church. He has blessed Redemption with a plurality of four elders (Jason, Pat, Joshua, and Dustin) after launching with only two (Pat and Jason). God has blessed Redemption with staff members and deacons who are gifted and diligent to do the work of this ministry with joy and quality. God has led us through four different facilities across Greeley and provided growth in depth and breadth at each of those places. Financially, through God’s people and His infinite Kingdom resources, God blessed Redemption with funding from our sending church, Windsor Community Church, the shared vision of Mountain View Community Church, and the Crossway Network as a whole. The adoption of Living Water Fellowship blessed us with faithful saints and a meeting place which we would outgrow. The adoption also included the blessing of that body’s frugal and faithful financial stewardship.

God’s care for the body and for the individuals has been evident in His path. He has sustained us through a variety of seasons of discipleship including physical death, physical birth, and spiritual new birth. God has kept us unified which is perhaps the most incredible thing to me. We have various gifts, passions, occupations, and even opinions, but God is sharpening us as a leadership team and as a body. Despite these differences, and we are being transformed. The value of God’s Word exists as the primary context where we go to learn about God Himself and to seek His direction for our decisions.

Redemption Church falls short of the perfection we imagined a decade ago, but that is not surprising. However, God has exceeded our expectations in ways that surprise us and that compel us to worship Him. He has exceeded our expectations with His care for us through His Word. It is a deep well. He has exceeded our expectations through His Spirit’s leading; only His Spirit can change hearts and illuminate the Word to us. He has exceeded our expectations through His people; God’s people, by His Word and Spirit, are being transformed into the image bearers that they were created to be.

Some Key Items to Pray for…

We are currently meeting under a lease agreement with an SDA church in central Greeley. This is a great location, has plenty of space for a single service gathering, and enables use of the facility during the week. We have been in the process of renewing this lease into a multi-year agreement.

Our body has grown to approximately 200 souls gathered on most Sundays, and there is a wide variety of ages represented. Alex Casetta leads our worship ministry, but God has supplied a competent team that frees him to join the congregation on a regular basis.

We’re currently preaching and studying through the Gospel of Matthew, which will carry us into 2027.

There are eight “Redemption Groups” that meet weekly, and we’ve seen regular baptisms as evidence of the growth in both breadth and depth of God’s Kingdom. We meet for an hour before the Sunday family gathering. This time is dedicated to Life Transformation Groups for adults and Sunday school for children and teens. God is supplying a vision and resources for a Youth Ministry that is aligned with our vision, mission, and values. There are a number of UNC students in our body, and we have had the chance to do some ministry on campus as well. We sense that God is stirring us to keep walking toward that field of “ready harvest.”

We have joined in partnership with three families currently serving as missionaries in foreign countries. The partnerships have been Gospel motivated, relational, financial, and prayerful for our body.

God has been faithful so far, and we are thankful for His blessing on this ministry. Much of His blessing has been through the care, coaching, discipleship, and contributions from the Crossway Network.

Thank you on behalf of the Redemption Church pastors!

Soli Deo Gloria
